RENAISSANCE SOPRANO LUTE

D’après Wendelio Venere, Padoue c. 1580 (Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienne, #C39).

Luth à 6 chœurs, longueur vibrante : 44cm, caisse à 13 côtes en alisier et poirier, table d’harmonie en épicéa bordée d’un filet de poirier, manche en merisier, touche et chevalet en poirier, cheviller en noyer et cormier, chevilles en buis.

Restoration of a lute by Marc Fontaine from 1988. Replacement of the entire upper part of the instrument (soundboard, bridge, fingerboard and nut); correction of the inclination of the neck; application of a new varnish on the bowl.

Lute with 6 courses, string length: 44cm, bowl with 25 ribs in pear wood and ebony spacers, soundboard in spruce with ebony binding,neck and pegbox with ebony veneer and pear wood binding, fingerboard in rosewood, bridge in corm wood and rosewood, pegs in boxwood.
